Philip Davies is a transporation economist who has over thirty years experience in global supply chain market research, dry bulk and containerized freight shipping, and intercity passenger transportation. He has a broad range of transportation consulting experience in diverse fields including aviation, drayage, port operations, goods movement and land use, intermodal facilities, shortline railways, and economic analysis and program review. His project experience includes North America and the Middle East. He was also marketing manager for Marine Atlantic, a large crown corporation that operates ferry services in Atlantic Canada. Dr. Grewal Head of Discipline Logistics, Australian Institute of Business is a former Professor of Port Management and Indian Chair at World Maritime University. He comes from Australia where he has held senior positions at the Australian Maritime College, the Federal Department of Transport and Regional Services, Esperance Port Authority and in the mineral resources industry. Dr. Grewal has led several consultancy projects, including advice to several governments on strategic logistics developments. He has led the master planning of port facilities and intermodal nodes within strategic production-to-market transport networks.
Devinder has been an Adjunct Professor of Transport Economics at the School of Management in the Faculty of Business, Government, and Law, University Canberra, and with the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies, Canberra. He has been chairman of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Australia, Tasmania branch, and vice-chairman of the Australian Capital Territory branch.
For several years, Devinder was an invited member of the Board of Directors of the Transport and Logistics Skills Council (TLISC). TLISC is the only organization funded by the Australian Federal Government to establish national skills standards and provide strategic workforce development advice for the maritime and other transport and logistics sectors.
